With roots in the original WMF factory, founded in 1853 in Geislingen, Baden-Württemberg, WMF has built a reputation as a trendsetter by introducing numerous innovative brewing solutions for over a century. For example, WMF reached its first breakthrough in 1932, in the form of the WMF 1000. Featuring intuitive controls and robust design, the WMF 1000 provided advanced brewing performance in a user-friendly form factor. By 1969, WMF would introduce another breakthrough in the form of the award-winning ‘Programat’, which would become the first electronically controlled, fully automatic coffee machine in the world. Numerous innovations would follow over the following decades, such as the convenient AutoClean system and WMF Espresso, bringing automation to the traditional semi-automatic espresso machine. To date, WMF has collected over 800 patents in the coffee industry and continues to innovate into the modern age with the largest in-house service organization in Europe, consisting of over 320 technical specialists.
